Chapter 7

Faith was exhausted, both physically and mentally. The last four days had felt like a lifetime. She had learned Kane loved her. The man she had loved since she was a little girl. She had thought nothing would ever come of it since she was human and she believed he saw her as nothing more than a necessary evil. But now they were mated. Not only that, she had learned she was switched at birth and her biological mother taken by demons, where terrible things were done to her. She had a brother who was half-demon, she had fought a demon, helped save two special girls, and lastly she had the two most in-depth, longest, scariest visions of epic proportions that she’d ever had.

Kane sat on his ugly rocker armchair, and she was still in his arms. Bengie sat on the lounge, Griffen on the other end. Jamie and Jack sat in armchairs that matched the lounge. Eight chairs were scattered around the lounge room. Five were occupied by family members, and the other three contained Tray, their head pack enforcer, and two elders.

“Who has the girls?” Faith asked.

“They’ve been staying with us,” Jack replied. “We thought it best. They get on so well with Ava and Eve, and they just loved Emma and Josie.”

Faith smiled at Jack. “I’m sorry about before, but I didn’t want to be stopped.”

He smiled. “Werewolf healing.” Then he frowned. “How are your new cuts?”

She winced but was starting to feel better. “Thanks to mating a werewolf, I have advanced healing, and once I have a shower, they won’t be as bad as the demons’ were.”

She felt Kane wince. He kissed her mouth gently.

Faith smiled up at him. “Do you know how much I love you?” She wiggled her toes and pouted, pointing to her feet. He shook his head so she played dirty, she pouted her lips and stared into his eyes. “Please, they wouldn’t be like this if somebody had treated my baby brother better.”

He growled, “Jamie, go and get the foot cream out of the bathroom.”

Jamie got up. Faith added, “Jamie, just get the vanilla scented one from my bag.”

He nodded and left the room. When he returned with the cream Kane started massaging her feet as everyone quieted down and waited to be told the important new information that had been learnt.

“You know I’m only doing this because I love you, right?”

She frowned at Kane. “I don’t know how loved I’m going to be after all the information I have to tell everyone.”

Faith just wanted to curl into a ball and sleep for a week. When everyone left, it was late. Afternoon lunch and dinner had been consumed. The visions were talked about, the girls were discussed, the demons and tunnels were talked about, and so was Bengie. Faith explained they needed to find supernatural people before the demons. Jack had spoken to several other alphas. All were grateful for the information, but only two had had similar problems.
